Purim Tables
With Purim just around the corner, most of us are picking our brains for some interesting ideas for the seuda, something to make this year’s Purim celebration more unique, more festive. As we live in the information age, the era of the internet, where many minds can share their ideas and inspirations together regardless of where they are located geographically, you can see what others are doing or have done in the past. I am sure your own ideas will flow when you see some of the Purim table set ups below.
Moroccan / Indian
This Moroccan Purim dream by The Jewish Hostess, is more fantasy than a how-to, but it lets loose the imagination. Check out her website for more details and authentic Moroccan and Indian elements and accessories.
Mexican Fiesta
This homemade Mexican set up is by Sarah Dahan of Creative Jewish Mom. The colorful table throw is pretty much all you need for that south of the border feel. Match this with some Mexico inspired costumes and a Mexican menu.
Orange and Blue
Another bright idea for your Purim table – a color splash of oranges and blues. This set up (which was made for a baby shower, but can go really well for your Purim festivities as well) comes from The Hostess With The Mostess, a great website for party ideas for any occasion. The bright, summery colors fill the atmosphere with excitement.
Under Construction
Blue-print disposable tablecloth is the foundation of this Purim theme. It’s quite easy to come up with builder / handy man accessories to complete your theme. You could even cover the entire floor around the table with construction paper, which will look as part of your overall set up and make for an easy after-party clean up. Hard hats and construction uniforms will complete the package.
The great thing about a theme for your party is that it’s a simple way to make sure that all the various elements of your party stick together. Think about the difference between random notes and a melody. The former will overwhelm a listener’s ear and appear as noise, while the latter caresses the ear and soothes the mind. Similarly, having a party theme or color scheme unites the random elements of your table / living room and heightens the overall sense of festivities. A Freilechen Purim!!!
